A/C  Repair

Air Conditioners are not just a luxury in Florida, but a necessity. Summers in particular can get terribly uncomfortable and potentially dangerous if you don’t have a good air conditioner installed in your home. All air conditioners are susceptible to developing problems every now and again, though, especially during the summer when demand is highest. The faster an air conditioner gets repaired after it develops a problem, the more damage can be prevented and the better off the system will be. That’s why we offer a full range of air conditioning repair services.

We can take care of any issues that your air conditioner develops. However, it’s up to you to know when to call for air conditioning repair services. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the common signs that your air conditioner is in need of repairs:

  • Odd Noises: You should be familiar with the sounds your air conditioner makes during operation, assuming you’ve used it before. If your system starts making any unusual noises during operation, you should call for repairs right away. What type of problem the system is experiencing depends on the kind of noise.

  • Unusually High Monthly Bills: You should take notice if your monthly air conditioner operating costs start to rise unexpectedly. This indicates that your system is working harder than it should be.

  • Fluid Leaking: There are two kinds of fluid that your air conditioner deals with. The first is condensate, which is the result of the system cooling the air past the dew point. The second is refrigerant, which is required for the system to cool the home. If you notice fluid of any kind leaking from your air conditioner, you should call a professional as soon as possible.

  • Dropping Output: If your air conditioner isn’t blowing enough cool air, it could mean the system is experiencing one of a number of different problems. It might be that you have a refrigerant leak, or that your system’s air handler isn’t functioning properly. You fan motor could possibly need replacing. Regardless of what’s causing the problem, you should have a professional technician examine the system to resolve it.

Heater  Repair

We have a wide selection of heating systems available for new installation and replacement here at In a Jiffy Heating and Air Conditioning. You want your heating system to be in the best shape possible for the winter and you hope to be able to use it without spending too much money on your monthly bills. Our expert technicians in Brevard can help make that happen with a proper installation and services that help to restore efficiency to your heating system.

When you are selecting a new heater, you have some decisions to make. Some of which include:

  • Gas or Electric
First, you have to choose whether you want a gas furnace or an electric furnace. Gas furnaces cost less to operate, but not everyone has a connection to a natural gas line. Electric furnaces have their advantages, but electricity doesn’t come cheap. Talk to our technicians, and we’ll help you understand your options.

  • Sizing
If your furnace is not just the right size for your home, it won’t work efficiently and it may not run properly at all, leading to sudden breakdowns when you really need it. Call our team beforehand and we will get you the right system for the space in your home.

  • Efficiency
Then there’s the matter of efficiency. The AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency) is a measure of your furnace’s efficiency—how much of the energy it takes in actually goes toward heating your home. A gas furnace with an AFUE of 90 is more efficient than one with an AFUE of 78. It may cost more upfront, but the energy savings offset this initial cost over time. We can help you choose the best efficiency rating for your budget

Our technicians are happy to help you navigate these tough choices and determine the best solution for your needs.

heat pump installation & repair

Typically, the air conditioner is separate from the heating system. The conventional split air conditioning system uses refrigerant to absorb heat from the air in the home and then move that heat outside. In the winter, when you switch over the thermostat to “heating” mode, your furnace kicks in. But that’s not the only way to cool and heat a home. A heat pump is a high-efficiency heating system and an air conditioning system too. It looks a lot like the standard central air conditioner, with an indoor blower unit and an outside compressor unit, but it has extra components that help it to move heat into the home in the winter.

Not sure if a heat pump installation is the right choice for your home? More and more Central Florida residents are opting for heat pumps as a replacement for the conventional air conditioner/furnace combination because a single system can cool and heat your home just as efficiently—if not more so. Here in Brevard, we have a climate that’s perfect for heat pumps most of the year. In the summer, it will work just as well as your old central air conditioner. In fact, if you choose a high–efficiency heat pump replacement, it may use far less energy than your old air conditioner. In the winter, temperatures outside rarely drop so low that a heat pump cannot perform efficiently. Heat pumps absorb heat from the air outside and then transfer that heat indoors. It should be able to do this even as temperatures approach freezing.

In a Jiffy Heating and Air offers heat pump installation and service here in Brevard County, Florida. Here is a brief overview:

  • Heat Pump Installation
We will carefully size your home and pick out a system that is just right for your home. We can even connect your heat pump to a gas furnace (a system known as a dual fuel heat pump) for maximum efficiency and performance in the winter when you need it.

  • System Replacement
Heat pumps are durable and efficient, but there will eventually come a time when you need to replace yours and upgrade to an even better system. We’ll remove the old heat pump (or standard air conditioner) and help you find a new unit that works with your budgetary and sizing requirements.

  • Heat Pump Repair
If your heat pump breaks down, we can be there quickly to help you resolve the issue. We can seal your refrigerant line, clear out the condensate drain, or replace your reversing valve, and much more.

  • Heat Pump Maintenance
Annual maintenance may help to keep your heat pump in good condition for the remainder of the season. We recommend scheduling this service in the spring, to prepare your heat pump system for AC season; and in the fall, so that it operates efficiently throughout the heating season.

duct cleaning & repair

We offer cleaning and sanitizing of your existing duct work. Your ductwork is just as important to the operation of your central air conditioning and heating system as the mechanical and electrical equipment within the system. A solid set of ducts allows air to flow in a direct route, straight to the rooms of your home. But most homes have some level of air leakage out of the ducts. Leaky air ducts make you less comfortable. It costs more to run the air conditioning or heating system when the ducts have holes and cracks in them, and it wears down the AC and heating equipment as well. Sealing ductwork becomes necessary when leakage levels are unacceptable. Get your ducts into good condition with the help of the experts at In a Jiffy Heating and Air. We offer air duct sealing, duct repair services, and duct replacement throughout Brevard County.

Leaky air ducts are more common than you might think. Unfortunately, the ductwork is something that many HVAC technicians overlook when making a repair, so you might go years without knowing that your ducts are contributing to inefficiency in your home. Make sure you work with qualified professionals who offer duct repair as part of their services. If we notice an issue within your ducts, we’ll let you know. So why would your ducts leak in the first place? Some of the most common ducting issues we see are listed below:

  • Faulty Installation
Sometimes, ductwork is not installed by a professional in the HVAC industry. A “handyman” or a beginner in the industry might not have the proper tools or know the proper methods for well–sealed air ducts. Major gaps at the joints throughout the ductwork is common with an amateur installation.

  • Poor Design
The ductwork should be designed to optimize airflow throughout the building and ensure that the system operates efficiently.

  • Wear and Tear with Time
Over time, pressure in the ducts may cause portions to pry open or collapse, and that’s when it’s time to call our team.

You may have to call in a professional to find out whether your ducts are leaky. Poor performance from an air conditioner or heater could have to do with the system itself, or it may mean that your air ducts are compromised. But you may be able to discern that the ductwork is the problem if you notice…

  • High Energy Bills
You’re spending money to heat or cool a crawlspace in your home, which means the system runs for longer and uses more energy.

  • Uneven Air Distribution
One portion of leaky ducts means that air may have trouble moving into that room only.

  • Poor Air Quality
Leaky ducts may allow for a larger number of contaminants to enter your living space.

Call In a Jiffy Heating and Air. for duct repair and replacement. We can provide air duct sealing to take care of a problem area or replace the ducts throughout your home when they start to wear down or develop too many leaks. Get quality work from people you can trust!
